The BBC has confirmed Radiohead’s drum tech, Scott Johnson, was killed by the stage collapse in Toronto’s Downsview park Saturday evening. Toronto Police told the BBC Johnson died as a result of a crushing injury.
Radiohead released a statement on their website mourning the loss of their “friend and colleague.”
“He was a lovely man, always positive, supportive and funny; a highly skilled and valued member of our great road crew,” the statement read. “We will miss him very much.”
Johnson, according to the BBC, was 33 years old. He was from Doncaster, England. One other member of the band’s crew was sent to hospital with serious injuries, according to the CBC.
Promoters LiveNation released a statement shortly after the accident saying the concert had been cancelled. The show was sold out.
