Colin James Acoustic Duo

If you’re eagerly awaiting this summer’s rush of music festivals, but need something to tide you over, this might do it. Canadian blues-rock staple Colin James plays with guest guitarist Chris Caddell for a night of live acoustic music at the National Arts Centre.

Back for round 6 is Babylon’s Battle at the Barrics, which sees skaters freestyling against each other on the dance floor. All the while local DJ, Acro, plays their tunes.

TALK

“So..what do you think of him/her?”

It’s always tricky when a friend wants to know what you think of his or her new love interest. But the question takes on an interesting twist in the play TALK, a 2009 finalist for the Governor General’s Literary Award for Drama. For characters Gordon and Josh, that simple question becomes the catalyst for a debate about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. A panel discussion with the play’s director and local experts will follow after the performance.

Taste for Life 2011

If you like food (who doesn’t?) and are also looking for a great way to give back, just go out for dinner tonight. Over 40 restaurants in Ottawa are participating in this year’s Taste For Life. They’ll be donating 25 per cent of each bill to Bruce House and the Snowy Owl AIDS Foundation.

Artist/performer Jeff Morton plays with sound in this new installation, encouraging gallery-goers to experiment with push buttons, sliders and other pieces of children’s electronic toys for an interactive experience. Morton will also perform with some of his own do-it-yourself instruments and explain the concepts behind his exhibition on Thursday, April 28 at 9 p.m.
